Emily (Morris)
Simmons was born June 1, 1845, in Tennessee, came to Illinois
with her parents in 1852. She professed faith in Christ at the
age of 15 and united with the County line Baptist church. She
was married to W. H. Simmons in May 18, 1865 and to this union
seven children were born, three having passed away, also, her
husband died March 7, 1901. Mrs. Simmons died at her home in Marion,
March 29, 1920 very suddenly with Paralysis—was brought to
Simpson on March 31st. Funeral services conducted by Elder J.
R. Tucker, of Carterville, interment in the Kerley cemetery.
