Thomas P. Milliken

Thomas P. Milliken, son of David and Mary Phillips Milliken, was born March 12, 1870, near Golconda, Ill., and died at the home of his daughter December 30, 1943; aged 73 years, nine months, and 18 days.
He was united in marriage to Ida Cora Kinnard, August 29, 1897 and to this union nine children were born; 6 girls and 3 boys. One boy died in infancy. Mrs. Jessie Evitts died Aug. 1939. Five girls and two boys survive their father, Bertha Fritch, Simpson; Elsie Blades, Stoutland, Mo., Mae Watson, Glendale; Carl and Bonnie Curtis Milliken, Belleville; Helen Lewis, Brownfield; Hazel Parsons, St. Louis, Mo.; and 13 grandchildren. Four sisters also survive him, Emma Clark, Metropolis; Grace Clark, Golconda; Kittie Anderson, Golconda and Lottie Kinnard, Ware.
His companion departed this life January 23rd, 1921, leaving 6 small children in his care, but with loving care he kept these together until they were all grown.
Thomas, as he was called was a devoted husband and father, a kind neighbor, honest and upright in his dealings with his fellowmen. He will be greatly missed by his relatives and friends. He has passed beyond the trials and sorrows of this sinful world.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. J. Isaac, Rev. Joe Russel and Rev. Epperheimer, Saturday afternoon, Jan. 1st at 2:00 o'clock from the New Liberty Church. The body was tenderly laid to rest in the nearby cemetery.
