John E. Bowman

" John E. Bowman, son of Benjamin F. and Mary C. Bowman was born in Pope County near Rock, July 15, 1879, and departed this life January 9, 1948 at the age of 68 years,5 months and 24 days.
In 1895 he was united in marriage to Allie Grisham. To this union four children were born: One daughter, Effie Jane Delleplain, preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, one son, Virgil Bowman of Marion, IL, two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Miller of Reevesville, and Mrs. Wilma Etheridge of Vienna; one sister, Mrs. Jane Abbott, of Marion, one brother, Mack Bowman, also of Marion; one half-sister of Oklahoma; two half-brothers, Charlie Baker of Elizabethtown, Arthur Bowman of Kansas City, Kansas; 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren.
He was converted in 1909 and united with the Dixon Springs Baptist Church. He lived most of his life near Dixon Springs, but for the last fourteen months had lived in Reevesville.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 11 at I:30 p.m. at Dixon Springs Baptist Church, and by request were conducted by Rev. Troutman and assisted by the pastor, Rev. L. G. Hartley. He was laid to rest in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Serving as pall bearers were Guy Farmer, Everett Malcolm George Grisham, Harvey Grisham, Green Grisham and Charlie Delleplain.
