Malachi Bowman

Malachi Bowman, son of Joshua McDonald and Missouri Isaac Bowman, was born at Rock, Ill., on September 19, 1898 and entered into rest at the Herrin Hospital, Herrin, Ill., on May 20, 1950 after a long illness.
On June 19, 1920 he was married to Mabel Doyle of Golconda, Ill. And to this union were born the following children: Ned of Chicago, Ray of Milwaukee, Wis., Louise Allen of Indianapolis, Ind., and Van and Joe both at home.
Besides his immediate family he is survived by three brothers, Ben of Benton, Ill., Alvis of Rock, Ill., and Bill of Golconda, three grandsons and many relatives and one half-sister, Ida Layman of Metropolis. Five brothers and one sister and three half-brothers and sisters preceded him in death. He was converted in 1932 and joined the First Baptist Church at Golconda, Ill., later moving his church letter to the Mt. Zion Church, where he was a member at the time of his death. Also being a member of the Masonic order since 1931.
Kie, as he was lovingly known to countless friends, worked as a young man as express agent on the Illinois Central Railroad. Later doing construction work and more recently had been working on his own farm on which he lived near Rock as long as his health would permit. Because of his kind and friendly ways he endeared himself to all with whom he came in contact.
Funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Zion church with the Rev. Robert Riley and Rev. Joe A. Baker officiating with burial in the church cemetery under auspices of Golconda Lodge No. 131 A. F. & A. M.
