Mary C. Bullock Bowman
Mary C. Bullock Baker Bowman, daughter of John and Mary
Bullock, was born Sept. 30, 1844 in Nashville, Tenn. She passed
away Saturday morning, Oct. 12, 1940 at the home of her son, M.D.
Bowman in Creal Springs, Ill. Having attained the age of 96 yrs
and 12 days. She was one of 12 children; 7 of whom lived to adult
age while 5 passed away in their childhood. She moved to Ill.
when 6 years old.
Aunt Mary was united in marriage to Wesley Baker some 72
years ago. To this marriage one child, a son, Charles G. Baker
was born. He now lives in Elizabethtown, Ill. Her husband departed
this life, March 10, 1870. She was later united in marriage to
Benjamin F. Bowman, and to this union four children were born.
One, Annie Bowman Grisham, proceeded her in death. The three children
to survive, John E. Bowman, of Dixon Springs, Ill.; Mack Bowman,
of Creal Springs; three step children, namely, Martha Reid, of
Creal Springs; Della Farmer of Okla; and Arthur Bowman of Kansas.
She also leaves to survive her departure ten grandchildren, thirteen
great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and a wide
circle of bereaved friends.
