Lenora Bowman Caldwell
Lenora, daughter of B. F. and Mollie Bowman, died in St.
Mary's Hospital at Centralia, Ill., Jan. 21, 1910 aged 32 years
and 4 months. In 1898 deceased was married to Chas. Caldwell,
who survives her.
She leaves four children, 2 boys and 2 girls, the oldest 11 years
old and the youngest is 2 years old; also a father, step-mother,
one sister and one brother, 3 half-sisters, 2 half-brothers, one
step-brother, besides a host of relatives and friends, but we
feel our loss is her gain.
Nora professed faith in Christ when but fourteen years of age,
and united with the Baptist church, at Mt. Zion in Pope County,
and lived a consistent Christian life ever after. She not only
professed religion, but lived it every day. Her one grand theme
was the religion of her Savior, always admonishing others to choose
the better life.
She had been an invalid for several years until she decided to
undergo an operation, which resulted in her death. She remarked
if it wasn't for the implicit faith she had in the Lord, she could
never go through the ordeal, and while she was preparing for the
operation, she sang "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms"
and knelt by the operating table and prayed, "Not my will
be done oh Lord, but thine."
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and loved by all, her
place can never be filled in the home. While it rends our hearts
to give her up, we have the sweet consolation that she is now
"Safe in the Arms of Jesus."
She was buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery, funeral service conducted
by Rev. Parmley.
