Sallie Ellis
Sallie Ellis, second daughter of John Thomas and Mary E.
Rodgers, was born near Rock, Ill., December 16, 1881. On May
14, 1945, surrounded by those whom she loved, she peacefully passed
to her eternal reward, at the age of 63 years, 4 months and 28
days.
She was united in holy matrimony to Mack Ellis, in the year of
1900. One child, Wane, came to bless their happy union.
Mrs. Ellis professed faith in Christ when a young woman. On September
21, 1924 she united with the Baptist church at Mt. Zion, to which
she remained a faithful member, giving her time and energy until
the final summons.
Surviving her passing are her devoted husband, Mack Ellis; her
affectionate son, Wayne, now in the service of his country, stationed
at Pearl Harbor, and her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Womick Ellis,
of Anna, Ill.
Others of her immediate family, whose hearts are overflowing with
sadness at her passing are her aged mother, Mrs. Mary E. Rodgers,
Golconda, Ill., three sisters, Martha Hicks, Anna, Ill., Orpha
Walther, Glendale, Ill., and Hettie Sanders, East St. Louis, Ill.
Those mourning the loss of a devoted aunt are two nephews, Carl
M. Rodgers, stationed in Italy, and Norvan E. Adams, stationed
in Florida and four nieces, Beatrice Griebel, Chicago, Ill., Mary
Parmley, Golconda, Ill., Wilma Beabout, Chicago, Ill., and Vivien
Eichelberger, East St. Louis, Ill. Two grand-nieces, Mrilyn Griebel
and June Beabout survive.
Preceding her in death were her father, John Thomas Rodgers who
died November 9, 1936, two sisters, Anna, who died March 5, 1909
and dacy who died October 3, 1926 and an only brother, Charlie,
who passed away November 9, 1920.
Many other relatives and a host of sorrowing friends are deeply
grieved at the loss of this beloved and holy woman.
