Effie Dixon, 86, of Grantsburg, died at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday,
Jan. 17, 1978, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.
She was a member of the Grantsburg Baptist Church.
She was born Nov. 37, 1891, in Pope County, to Alexander and Georgeanne
Murphy.
She married Onzie Dixon Oct. 28, 1928, in Johnson County. He
preceded her in death. Three sisters and four brothers also preceded
her in death.
Survivors include one sister, Oma Baity of Golconda, a step-son,
Bernard Dixon of Patchogue, N.Y., one step-daughter, Mable Simmons
of Oak Bluff, Ill.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Aly Funeral
Home in Vienna. Burial was in the Glendale Cemetery, with the
Rev. John L. Cox officiating.
