GLADYS AUSTIN

Mrs. Gladys Austin, 85, wife of Perry Austin, of 1318 South McKinley St., Harrisburg, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 1997 at her residence. She was born on Nov. 5, 1911, in Saline County, to the late Harry and Anna Herman Morris. She was a retired bookkeeper for C. F. Gidcumb Furniture in Harrisburg and a member of Dorrisville Social Brethren Church in Harrisburg. On April 9, 1944, she married Mr. Austin, who survives, along with two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Arlene) Balabas of Harrisburg and Mrs. Roy (Carolyn) Jurjens of Bethalto; six grandchildren, Andrew and wife, Michelle DeBose, of Dayton, Ohio, Bradley
Balabas of Mount Vernon, Christina Jurjens and Lynn Jurjens, all of Bethalto, Tina DeBose of Wood River, and Jason Balabas of Champaign; and a brother, Harry Morris of Harrisburg. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Morris and Joseph Morris, and a sister, Anna Stout. Graveside services were held Monday, March 24 at 11 a.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Harrisburg. The Rev. John Bailey officiated. Visitation was held at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg after 10 a.m. until service time Monday.
