Services for Mrs. Elsie Lee Ammon, 72, of 101 East Walnut
St., Carrier Mills, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Absher-Nicholson
Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, where friends may call from 6 to
8 p.m. today. Dr. John Simpson will officiate and burial will
be in Salem Cemetery. Mrs. Ammon died at 6:12 a.m. Thursday at
St. Mary Medical Center in Evansville. She was born on July 7,
1919 in Saline County, to the late C. H. (Betsy) and Nellie Ward
Austin. Mrs. Ammon was a member of the Carrier Mills First Baptist
Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Bob (Betsy Ann) Evans of
Harrisburg; a son, John A. Ammon, Carrier Mills; two brothers,
John Austin of Carrier Mills and Bob Austin of O'Fallon; four
grandchildren, Jay Evans of Harrisburg, Jann Leverett of Marion.
Terri Ammon, Carrier Mills and Brad Ammon of Omaha; and three
great-grandchildren.
