PAUL (SARGE) AUSTIN
PAUL (Sarge) Austin, 84, of 209 W. Washington St., Carrier
Mills, died at
2:25 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998 at Harrisburg Medical Center. He
was born
on Feb. 16, 1914, in Pope County, to the late Loren and Osbie
Wallace Austin. Mr. Austin retired from Chrysler Motor Corp. He
was a World War II veteran and served six years overseas and three
years in the C.C. Camp in Milwaukee, Wisc. He was a member of
the First Baptist Church in Carrier Mills. Surviving are a brother,
Gene Austin of Eldorado; a sister, Frances Thornton of Harrisburg;
and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he
was preceded by his wives, the former Margaret Krala and the former
Hilda Davies, a son, David Allen Austin, two brothers, Perry Austin
and Lee Austin, and a sister, Muriel Thomas
Patton. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Absher-Nicholson
Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, where friends may call from 6 to
8 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Harl Cockrum will officate. Burial will
be in Salem Cemetery at Carrier Mills with military rites by the
Harrisburg and Carrier Mills American Legion Posts.
