Laura Belcher Miller
Laura Belcher Miller, daughter of Joseph and Amelia Snider
Bates, was born December 6, 1884, passed from this life at her
home in Eddyville, March 9, 1960 at the age of 75 years 3 months
and 3 days.
At an early age she felt the call of our heavenly Master and accepted
Him as her personal Saviour. Later, united with the Eddyville
Methodist Church where she still remained at the time of her departure.
In 1906 she was united in marriage to Albert Belcher; at this
time became a step-mother to his two children, Elbert and Era;
sharing her love and affection for her husband and children. God
blessed this union with another son and daughter.
They moved from the farm home to the village of Eddyville in the
year of 1934 where she spent a quiet retired life.
Sadness entered the home in 1943, when Mr. Belcher was called
to his home, leaving her by herself until 1948 when she was again
united in marriage, this time to Granville Gallimore. This marriage
lasted only 3 short years until his death in 1951. In 1952 she
was again married to Isaac Miller.
She leaves to mourn her passing; her husband, one son, Amos Belcher
of Eddyville, one daughter, Mrs. Opal Sheirbon, Pendleton, Or,
one granddaughter, one step-son, Elbert Belcher of Eddyville,
five step-grandsons, nine step-great-grandchildren, one sister,
Mrs. Eliza Crank of Golconda, and one half-brother, Edd Estes
of Harrisburg with other relatives and numerous friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 13, at the Eddyville
Methodist Church with the Rev. Ivan Lirely officiating. Burial
was in the Eddyville Cemetery with Aly Funeral Home, Eddyville,
in charge of arrangements.
