James Franklin Rogers

James Franklin Rogers was born in Bedford County, Tennessee, May 5, 1854; died at his home in Metropolis, Illinois, October 9, 1943, age 89 years, 5 months and 4 days. He was son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Rogers, and was a retired farmer. Surviving are four children: James M. Rogers, Mrs. Ada Mary Anderson, Allen L. Rogers, John L. Rogers, all of Metropolis. One daughter, Mrs. Martha Jane Martin died in 1941. He was first married August 12, 1876 to Miss Ellen Elizabeth Ragsdale. Years after her death in 1940 he married Mrs. Martha Smith who died less than two months ago. Mr. Rogers was converted and united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church some years ago. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Church of God at two o'clock. Rev. Grady L. Hogue, assisted by Rev. Gaines Sorrow, officiated. Burial was made in the Masonic Cemetery.
