Cecil Ernest Von Tungeln was born on October 30, 1911, in
the Rising Sun community of Pope County, Illinois, and departed
this life on June 15, 1975. He was the son of Heio and Emma Schoettle
Von Tungeln, who preceded him in death.
He married Rachel, daughter of James and Lula Wright on November
3, 1929. She lives in their home in Golconda. They were blessed
with two children, Betty Lou Brooks of Louisville, Ill., and George
Robert Von Tungeln of Clemson, S.C. He had nine grandchildren.
They are Mrs. Steve (Judy) Porter, Tommy, Jenet, and Joe Brooks;
Stuart, Brenda, Sonya, and Eric Von Tungeln; a great-granddaughter,
Amy Jo Porter; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Burris Von Tungeln,
and a son-in-law, James Brooks. His only sister, Mrs. Bob ( Maude)
Wright of Rock, Illinois.
He was christened in the Waltersburg Methodist Church on April
28, 1912, and later became a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
He engaged in farming, private business and many civic positions
in the Golconda community. He was presently coroner of Pope County.
He will be missed by all his many friends and relatives.
