Spencer Trigg
Spencer, son of the late W. R. and Lucy ( Shelton) Trigg,
was born December 28, 1893 near Simpson, Illinois.
He passed from this life Tuesday morning, March 31, 1946 in the
office of Dr. Veach at Vienna, at an age of 70 years, 3 months
and 3 days. He had been under treatment for some time for several
complications, yet his death was unexpected.
Spencer was one of seven children born in the farm home and educated
in the local school. One brother has preceded him in death, Ned,
who passed away June 3, 1963. A brother, Walter, died when he
was a baby.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Murphy of Robbs and Mrs.
Mary Faulkner of Ozark; three brothers, Bert of Peoria, Joe of
Simpson and Ira of Vienna.
Early in life he was converted to Christ and only a short time
ago made the statement that he was ready to die.
He served his country well in World War 1 and was honorably discharged
in 1919. Later he became a member of the local American legion
post at Vienna, in which he was an active member to his death.
To the many friends, the names Ned and Spencer Trigg were given
as a motto of work, honesty and dependability. They were active
in the welfare of the community and nation. After the passing
of Ned, Spencer lost interest in many things on the farm and health
forced him to abandon it.
For the past several months he has resided alone in the spare
house at the Trigg sisters home, taking his meals with them.
They cared for him well. He had expressed his appreciation to
the writer for the care. _obituary copied.
