Rolla Nelson, 77, who resided near Grantsburg, died in the Massac
Memorial Hospital Wednesday, November 18, 1964 after an illness
of several months.
Mr. Nelson was the son of J. H. and Eliza Morgan Nelson and was
born in Johnson County, April 15, 1887.
He was married to Osee Choate September 7, 1913. She survives
him. Also surviving him are three sons, Maurice Nelson of Grantsburg;
Rolla Nelson, Jr., of Wilmington, N. C., and Terry Nelson of Detroit,

Mr. Nelson was a retired school teacher, retiring after teaching
49 years. He was also a school supply salesman, which occupation
he followed during vacation time during his teaching career. In
addition to these activities he was a part-time farmer. His many

teachers, executives and board members than he. Most of his teaching
career was in Johnson and adjacent counties.
He was a member of the Grantsburg Baptist Church, of which he
was a deacon. He was also a member of the New Columbia Masonic
Lodge.
