L. G. Sullins of Ozark Passed Away Last Week
Former Merchant Had Been A Resident of Ozark 55 years.
Funeral Held Saturday

Funeral services were held Saturday p. m. for L. G. Sullins of Ozark, who passed away at his home there on Wednesday evening following an illness of several months. The service was held at the Ozark Baptist Church conducted by Revs. E. R. Steagall, Louie Simmons and Fred Underwood, all close friends of the deceased.
Casket bearers were Harry Reid, Cecil Murphy, Nathan Lawrence, Bob Hamilton, Guy Schuey and Homer Smith. The Ozark quartet was in charge of the singing. The floral tokens and the large attendance were evidences of the esteem in which he was held as friend and neighbor.
The following obituary was read at the service:
L. G. Sullins, eldest son of Madison M., and Josephine Sullins, was born near old Reynoldsburg, Johnson County, Ill., on July 6, 1866, and peacefully passed away in his home it Ozark, Ill., November 29, 1944, at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 23 days.
He was married to Lizzie Brooks in 1892. To this union two children were born, Mrs. Eva Rushing of Ozark and Harry, whose life was sacrificed in France while in military service during the First World War.
After a lingering illness of several years, his wife died a triumphant death, July 12, 1899.
Mr. Sullins was married a second time to Nancy Bell of Tunnel Hill on July 22, 1900. To this happy union one son was born, George of Chicago.
Those surviving are: a faithful wife, one daughter, Mrs. Eva Rushing of Ozark; one son, George of Chicago; one sister, Mrs. Mollie Tallis of Los Angeles, Calif., two brothers, Will of St. Louis and Rev. Van B. Sullins of Pontiac, Ill.; also one grandchild, Bobby L. Rushing of Ozark.
Mr. Sullins was converted and united with Ozark Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Blackman more than forty years ago. He was a faithful and loyal Christian, honored and loved by all who knew and had fellowship with him in the business of affairs of life. He was a deacon in the Ozark Baptist Church and was a member of the Masonic and Odd Fellow lodges. He has been a resident of Ozark for 55 years. During this long period he engaged in the mercantile business; was for several years post master and president of the Ozark State Bank. He also owned and operated the beautiful peach and apple orchard which crowns the crest of the Ozark ridge.
Mr. Sullins will be greatly missed by a large host of near relatives and sincere friends of Ozark community and Johnson County where he had a wide acquaintance and active career more than half a century.
