Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, (Jan. 1979)
at Gaskins Funeral Home chapel, Harrisburg, for Mrs. Cora Alice
Rumsey, 95, who died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Doctor's Hospital.
She was a resident of the Pope County Care Center, Golconda.
Last rites were conducted by the Rev. Ron Simpson and the Rev.
Marion Mosley. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery, Golconda.
Mrs. Rumsey was born Nov. 3, 1883, in Pope County, daughter of
the late George and Nancy Williams Whiteside. She was a member
of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Pope County.
Surviving are a son, Woodie Rumsey of Harrisburg; four daughters,
Mrs. Lela Watson, Golconda, Mrs. Vada Hise, Harrisburg, Mrs. Bessie
Crews, Anna, and Mrs. Fern Threlkeld, Jerseyville; nine grandchildren;
and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Vinyard, Murphysboro and Mrs. Lida
Fritch, O'Fallon. A daughter, four sisters, and a brother
preceded her in death.
