W. Robert Wise, son of O. J. and S. S. Wise, was born in New Burnside, Ill., Sept. 20,1871, and died at the Baptist Hospital, Little Rock, Ark., March4, 1921, aged 49 years, 5 months, 14 days. His boyhood days were spent in Johnson County; at the age of 18 he was converted and joined the New Burnside Baptist Church, later moved his membership to Mt. Carmel where he lived for sometime. He was married t Nov. 30, 1896, to Miss Linnie Caldwell of New Burnside. As soon as age permitted, he became a railroader and followed it until stricken with typhoid fever at his home in McGhee, Ark., some five weeks before death.
He was a valued engineer, faithful and efficient. His neighbors and boyhood friend, J. W. Lawrence, also, an engineer, brought his body here for burial. He was patient in his suffering and resigned to the will of the Father.
He leaves to mourn his loving companion, two children, Mrs. F. P. Brannon of Detroit, Mich., Ralph Wise still at home, two sisters, Mrs. Stella Kiser, and Mrs. Minnie Cleveland both of LaFayette, Ind., and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his departure, Bob, as we called him, was affable, and kind, a general favorite and will be greatly missed by his host of friends. His funeral services were held in the Baptist Church, conducted by the Pastor Eld. W. W. Woodside, and a former Pastor Eld. J. R. Tucker, and the remains laid to rest in the Robinson Cemetery. The floral display was very fine. His relatives and friends came from many places to pay their last tribute to one they loved and respected.
