Andrew D. Akridge

Andrew D. Akridge, son of William David and Rebecca Akridge was born in Blount county, Tenn., April 12th, 1872; and in 1893 he came to Pope county. Soon after he came to Illinois he professed faith in Christ.
He was married to Anna M. Hertter of Rising Sun, Ill., and to this union ten children were born, namely, Christiana Rehfeldt, Nora Skyles, Wilma Thompson, Thelma Winans, Vilus Goulding, Theo. Alonzo, Willis, Roy and Edward Akridge, all of E. St. Louis, Ill. Vilus Goulding passed away at Golconda, Nov. 11th, 1919.
In 1921 he and his family moved to East St. Louis, and lived there until his death, July 2, 1929. The body was brought here and buried at Waltersburg M. E. Church, July 5th.
He leaves to mourn his death: a wife and nine children, 13 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Maggie Walters, of Bay City, and a host of friends and other relatives.
Andy, as he was called, was a kind husband, father and a good neighbor and was liked by all who knew him.
One gone but not forgotten
A voice stilled.
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
Services were conducted at the M. E. Church at Waltersburg by the Rev. Rue Reid of Eddyville and Mrs. Effie Cope of Golconda.
