Catherine Frederica Walther Schoettle
Catherine Frederica Schoettle passed away at her farm home
north of Brownfield, Illinois, Sunday, August 27, 1939 at 12:35
0' clock a. m. at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 17 days.
Mrs. Schoettle was born in Pope county, Illinois, September 10,
1861, the daughter of Benjamin and Catherine Walther. She was
married in Pope county, Illinois, to George J. Schoettle on the
12th of January, 1882, who preceded her in death on May 13, 1935.
Six children were born to this union, namely, David and Albert,
of Stockland, Illinois, Mrs. Emma Von Tungeln, Phillip, Carl and
Mrs. Clara Burns, of Brownfield, Illinois, all of whom survive.
Mrs. Schoettle is also survived by one brother, William Walther,
of Brownfield, Illinois, together with nine grandchildren and
six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Schoettle professed faith in Christ on Sunday, November 11,
1920. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Waltersburg,
Illinois, Nov. 14, 1920 in which she was a faithful member until
her death.
Mrs. Schoettle lived in the same community all her life. She
was highly respected and with her family enjoyed a large circle
of friends. All of her time was devoted to her home and family
in a life that was full of happiness and an inspiration to those
who came in touch of its environment. The family, the church
and the community will keenly feel the loss of her kindly friendship.
Well may it be said of Mrs. Schoettle after a life of earnest
and faithful labor: "Well done, good and faithful servant."
