George L. Baker

George L. Baker, son of Casewell Baker and Elizabeth Kelly Baker, was born Dec. 10, 1868, and died in Missouri Baptist Sanitarium of St. Louis, Mo., June 15, 1936, aged 57 years, 6 months and 5 days.
He was reared in Pope county and became one of our best teachers, after graduating at Northern Normal. In his later years he made his residence in St. Louis. He was for many years a member of the Masonic Lodge of Pontiac. Because of his sweet personality, education and friendly manner he had many friends wherever he was.
Those left to mourn his departure are one sister, Mrs. Perry Billington, of Homberg; two half-brothers, Willie Baker, of Homberg, and Ammon Baker, of Metropolis, and a host of other relatives and friends. One sister and brother preceded him to the great beyond.
The body was accompanied home by a most devoted and life-long friend, John C. Rothmeier.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. E. Baker, at Bethany, June 18th, in the presence of a large concourse of friends.
