Adolph Smith, 85, dies; funeral Tuesday 2 p.m.

Adolph Smith, 85, 118 South Main, Harrisburg, died at 9:40 p.m. Saturday following an extended illness.

Mr. Smith was the founder of the Smith Packing Company. He was the son of the late Lawrence W. Smith and Amelia Moyer Smith, and was born in Pope County on Sept. 3, 1883.
He was married to the former Jo Stone McCormick.

He was one of the charter members of the present Saline County Fair Association, and was also a member of the First Methodist Church in Harrisburg.

He is survived by his wife, Jo, and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lawrence Smith, Harrisburg. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ottie Webb, Harrisburg, and Mrs. Etta Minor, Harrisburg, and one brother, Carl Smith, Trucksville, PA.
He was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence, in 1966. One sister and four brothers also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Gaskins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. George Schmink will officiate, and the Rev. George Smith will assist.

Burial will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends are calling at the funeral home.
