Final rites were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, at Buchanan
Funeral Chapel, for Dr. R. L. Whiteside, 78, who died at his home
at Stockton, Calif., after a three year illness.
The remains arrived at Carbondale at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, and lay
in state at the Buchanan Funeral Home until the funeral hour.
Services were conducted by the Rev. A. H. Modglin, with Masonic
rites at the chapel by members of A.F. & A.M. lodge No. 1341.
Burial was in the Glendale Methodist Church Cemetery.
Doctor Whiteside is survived by his widow, Mrs. Grace Whiteside,
Stockton, Calif., who was ill and unable to accompany the body
here; a daughter, Mrs. Rachel Proctor, Ziegler, Ill., a son, Robert
of Waukegan, and a brother, J. Ado Whiteside, Golconda.
