Lowell C. Hicks
Lowell C. Hicks, 70, of Harrisburg and formerly of the Herod community,
died early Monday afternoon, December 2, 1996, in Harrisburg.
He was born March 9, 1926 in Pope County, IL., the son of the
late Frank and Ethel Crabb Hicks.
He married the former Josie Partain, who survives. Other survivors
include one son, David, of Pinckneyville; one daughter, Diane
Gibbs of Harrisburg; four grandsons, one granddaughter; two brothers,
Joe of rural Harrisburg and Glen "Bud" of Rosiclare;
two sisters, Wanda Patton of Rockford and Bonnie Barger of Golconda;
and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his second mother,
Sybil Hicks; two brothers, Theodore and Bert; and three sisters,
Audie Hogg, Chloe Otis, and Beatrice Hicks.
Mr. Hicks was a member of Dorrisville Baptist Church in Harrisburg.
He was a veteran of World War II and retired in 1988 as a truck
driver from Denny & Simpson.
Services were held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 5, 1996, at
Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. Larry Crabb officiating.
Burial was in Asbell/Hicks Cemetery near Herod.
Gaskins Funeral Home, Harrisburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
