W. C. Reed, son of Alford and Elizabeth Reed, was born April
1st , 1848, died August 16, 1926, aged 78 years, 4 months and
15 days. He was united in marriage April 1st 1877, to Lana Grathler.
To this union were born six children, 2 girls and 4 boys, namely:
Rosa B. Rose, who preceded him to the great beyond, Elizabeth
Newton, of Eldorado; Sam and Willis Reed, of Harrisburg; Edward
Reed at home and Ezra Reed of Chicago. He professed faith in
Christ about 45 years ago, and united with the Social brethren
Church at Cedar Bluff, as a charter member and lived a faithful
Christian until his death. He had been in poor health for about
30 years, and had been confined to his bed for the last 21 months,
but bore his suffering with patience, and said that death would
be a welcome relief.
He leaves to mourn his death, the wife and 5 children, 9 grandchildren,
one sister, Mahala Dunn, and one brother, H. J. Reed, besides
a host of other relatives and friends.
A light from our home is gone.
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our hearts,
that never can be filled.
