J.T.LEDBETTER

It is with much regret that we chronicle the death of John T. Ledbetter, who died at his home at Peters Creek on Thursday, Nov. 26 following almost immediately after the death of his father. His death was quite sudden and unexpected, only a few short weeks ago we saw him actively engaged in the campaign, full of hope and expectations, Yellow Jaundice and its complications were the immediate cause of his death. He was in the 52nd year of his age, a member of the late war, was once elected a Assessor and Treasurer of Hardin County and served two terms as Sheriff. He was formerlya member of the Baptist church and a consistent member, but retrograded into by and forbidden paths but it is said he died in the hope of eternal life.
He leaves a wife and eleven children, the oldest of which is John J. a
leading attorney of this town. "Take ye heed; watch and pray, for ye know not when the time is" Matthew 19:27.

"I have the newspaper obit but don't know what newspaper."
