AUSTIN FAMILY HOLDS ANNUAL REUNION
Descendants of the late Shade and Mary Francis (Fannie)
Austin met at
Dixon Springs State Park Sunday, Aug 9, following church services,
for
their annual family reunion.
A bountiful and delicious basket dinner was spread and served
at the noon
hour. Grace was said by Garfield Thomas.
Following the dinner a visitation period was held and it was reported
that since the last reunion 3 births, a son, Steven Dale, was
born to Mr.
and Mrs. John E. Austin, a son, Jay Lyn, born to Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Evans,
and a daughter, Beth Marie was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Tom Austin
of
Hobart, IN. There were two graduates from high school, Anita
Kincheloe
and Arlene Austin. The wedding of Anita Kincheloe and Wm. Eddie
Whipple was the only marriage. There was one death, Mrs. Henry
(Estelle) Bateman of Chicago, who was the youngest sister of the
late Shade Austin and the last member of his immediate family.
The oldest member present was C. H. "Betsy" Austin who
is 74 years of age and his great grandson, Jay Lyn Evans, nine
months, was the youngest
present. There were four generations present of the "Betsy"
Austin
family, namely Betsy Austin, his daughter, Mrs. Arthur Ammon,
her
daughter, Mrs. Bob Evans and her son, Jay Lyn Evans.
Recreation followed with snapshots and movies taken.
Those present were Mr. and Mrs. C. H. "Betsy" Austin,
Bob Austin, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Austin, and Steven Dale, Mr.
and Mrs. Arthur Ammon, Johnnie Ammon, Mrs. H. J. Russell, Mrs.
Stell Tanner, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Evans and Jay Lyn, Mr. and Mrs.
Joe Thornton, Mr. Clyde Whiteside, Mrs. Lillie Whiteside, and
Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Thomas.
The date and place for the 1965 reunion will be the second Sunday
in
August at Dixon Springs as has been customary for years.
